Oxo Corn Stripper

$12.00 Released August, 2007

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Easy kernel stripping. Kernels are contained as you strip. Less stuff getting caught in your teeth.

The Cons:Takes the fun out of corn on the cob. Is it really necessary?

The Corn Stripper from OXO is a simple-to-use device that strips the kernels from the cob and stores them in a container as the kernels are removed. As you move the stripper along the cob the blade sits flush with the kernels and strips them away.

Product Shot 2 As the container becomes full of kernels you can empty it onto the plate by turning it around since the container is open-ended. The stripper has rubber handles for no-slip grip and a stainless steel blade that is detachable for cleaning.

OXO International is the company behind the popular kitchen brand, Good Grips. Their philosophy started with the simple premise that kitchen items don't have to hurt your hands. This was in 1990 and since then, they have released over 500 products that are ergonomically designed with the user (and function) as the main focus.

barbzi: #oxo_corn_stripper I bought this gadget today and just tried it and it works great. I have four kids and they are all in different stages with teeth growing. Some have teeth in the front, some are loose and some have come out. I am constantly being asked to cut their corn off the cob. Also, I make cream-style corn so it will come in handy for that. Erik: #oxo_corn_stripper Good points, pongee. I think I have been thoroughly convinced that the Oxo Corn Stripper is a very reasonable product and have changed my tag from "stupid" to "not stupid". Aug 11, 07

pongee: #oxo_corn_stripper to the nay sayers: have you never thought of those for whom biting directly into the cob is impossible? i wish this had been invented years ago when i had braces as a young adult. some other folks have fragile dental work , deformities of the jaw or a blister on the lip which make direct chomping on the cob impossible. this is a wonderful invention to those myriads of folks. kudos oxo! Erik: #oxo_corn_stripper @ruthers. I think you make a compelling argument. This would be good if you want good fresh niblets, without the hassle of eating on the cob or the lack of flavor of the frozen variety. I was listening to John Tesh Radio (admit it, you know you all love Tesh) and he said that frozen vegetables actually contain more nutrients because they are frozen so close to when they are harvested; locking the nutrients in. "Intelligence for your life". Think about it folks! Jul 29, 07

ruthers: #oxo_corn_stripper I think it's actually quite ingenious! Sometimes you just want fresh corn niblets and usually a lot of supermarkets don't sell fresh niblets. So you end up having to try to get them off the cob yourself! Mostly corn niblets are sold frozen, which is fine, but if you've ever had fresh corn niblets fried with a bit of butter and salt...I'm telling you, it's amazing. Jul 27, 07

Erik: #oxo_corn_stripper This is ridiculous. I thought corn on the cob was supposed to be "eaten on the cob". Buy niblets already. (not to be confused with giblets) Jul 27, 07
