Insomnia: #ikea_oppdal_bed I think this bed is great, has a few design flaws IMO though. I'll talk about the cons first. The storage is great but you should definitely take into consideration the amount of space the bed will take if you want to use the drawers. One issue I would change is the possition of the drawers. The drawers are located at the very head of the bed with two drawers each side. This makes it difficult to have a side tabe and unless you are like me and have long arms the drawers will not be able to open all the way without hitting the side table. Ikea chose to leave an empty space at the foot of the bed which if I was designing would have put there drawers closer to the foot of the bed to allow for a side table etc. I also have the optional headboard which I love the look and storage on the side. I dont like how the headboard and the bed just press up against each other leaving a gap from your mattress and the headboard allowing the annoying problem of your pillows falling into the abyss. Other than those two design flaws I think this bed is stylish and sturdy. I do think it would be easy to disassemble and reassemble the bed just as long as you keep track of the parts. The bed does take some time to assemble but if you've done it once the second time should be a breeze. Jan 29, 13

Anonymous: Hey buddy! You have your bed backwards. There ~IS~ a space for sidetables, at the head of the bed - the flat end(you know,=where the headboard goes). The drawers are in the middle and at the foot of the bed.
You are completely right about there being do real attachment between the bed & headboard, though. Feb 15, 13

Anonymous: #ikea_oppdal_bed This is a one time assembly unit. It weighs a ton and a half and will be close to impossible to move or reassemble in the future. The three tools that is pictured is laugh out loud funny. Your hands will asking, no begging, for an electric screwdriver with new sharp bits. A RUBBER hammer as well as a regular one. We used our old box spring so we didn't have to put the 70 slat assembly together. The two of us took a 10 min break and the total time, with the optional, headboard for assembly was just under EIGHT HOURS !!!!!! There is only one word after this nightmare...........Sleeptrain.......... Apr 23, 12
